Mission
To create a better world by utilizing, with excellence, the opportunities presented in the mining and building markets.
A bold mission, focused not only on results for the company but also for all of humanity. Every human being can be the beginning of a life improvement chain. At U&M, for example, when a group of people works hard on the construction of a hydroelectric power plant, they are actually increasing the capacity to provide the population with power. When a team extracts iron ore, it is providing raw material for the making of cars as well as household, kitchen and hospital appliances.
By means of direct and indirect actions, U&M contributes to make a better world for its employees, clients, shareholders and society by generating resources, providing jobs and improving its surroundings.
Vision
One of the most sustainable companies up until 2012.
As we reach our goals, new challenges arise and with them comes our desire to overcome them.
We have experienced great growth and development but, at the same time, we are faced with a world requiring significant action to change the course of global warming and absence of ethical behavior. Thus, we ask ourselves what we should do. How can we act so as to effectively accomplish our mission and contribute to a better world in which to live?
With a view to the future, we have set up a new challenge and defined our new vision. Being a sustainable company means being able to meet the needs of today's society without compromising the capacity to meet the needs of future generations in four areas: economic, financial, environmental and social.
That is our new challenge. The future is promising, but we do not want just a few things. We know we can do a lot to contribute to making a better world.
Zambia's Vision
A world class mining contractor by 2010.
