Therefore, U&M's environmental awareness paved the way for studies to recover the Ibitipoca Reserve, promoted the selective collection and rational use of resources. In addition, it established goals for internal and external environmental performance. U&M invests heavily in the environment in order to guarantee a sustainable future. It values the reduction of the impact caused to the environment by mining and heavy construction activities. It avoids pollution environmental harm through the use of modern technology and procedures. Several other ecologically correct practices, such as treatment of effluents, are part of the company’s activities. Likewise, U&M performs preventive actions and contingency plans which protect it against risks of environmental accidents. It is not by chance that U&M's logo is green, a symbol which reflects constant concern for taking care of natural resources. |
