One of the premises in our mission is to work for a better world. This task demands that we care deeply for all that lies around U&M, and that we accept the challenge of harmonizing our emphasis on economic development with the preservation of natural resources and social justice. Through financial support and volunteer work we endeavor to encourage and develop optimal project initiatives in organized society, focused on social inclusion, return to human values, environmental education, as well as recovery and preservation of the environment.
U&M's environmental actions as stressed in this Report go well beyond those outlined by ISO 14001. It is a demonstration that our era demands more than merely respecting norms, in a manner that is pro-active and marked by responsibility and awareness. We know sustainable development depends on a combination of efforts that exceed the scope of our individual power, as large required changes result from singular attitudes in our daily routine, and from each one's faith and persistence.
Alternatively, we aim at the right values, respect and opportunities for all human beings. Through social, cultural and sports projects, we show children and adolescents that quality of life is not merely a dream, it can also be attained with desire and determination.
This same message guides the relationship with our personnel.
